In what will become a regular feature in Exquil’s independent publishing plans, Kickstarter the crowdfunding…
Olivia Elery is a well-respected fashion and beauty illustrator based in the United States. She produces illustrations for number of high-profile names that includes Louis Vuitton, David Yurman, Macy’s and Tieks to name but a few. Exquil wanted a change in direction to the mood board he put together for the chapter illustrations of Sarah’s Smiling. He wanted to portray Sarah in a more fun and sassy way to show her empowerment in this part of the storyline. He originally agreed terms for this commission with a fashion Spanish-based fashion artist in Menorca. But it seemed her Balearic lifestyle as far too laid back for the author’s timeline to get this piece completed. When that artist failed to materialise with a firm reply, Olivia’s portfolio stepped to the fore and what a wonderful choice she was! Olivia is a great professional and a perfectionist. Exquil came to realise this when he asked her to include Carma Naude’s Protectors sacred geometry to her illustration. Olivia agonised over the resolution of the final product so much she sent a video of her working at her desktop in small hours of the morning! Olivia describes her work as chic, elegant and harmoniously fun. Sarah’s Smiling exudes all of this, I think you will agree.
